Preliminary Task

For the Preliminary task, we made a short sequence a short sequence about a school kid being late for a detention and then arguing with the teacher, eventually being told to 'get out' so he leaves and that's the end of the scene. We were required to make the sequence featuring someone walking through a door, sitting down opposite another person, having a few lines of dialogue between them and then one of the characters leaving. The shots had to include a shot reverse shot and a match on action shot, along with someone opening a door and sitting opposite another person, all of this had to be done without breaking the 180 degree rule and I think me and my group did the task well.

I personally found this task quite fun as I got to use the camera a lot and it was nice to see how much work is involved behind the camera. Once we got to the editing I realised that if you don't shoot it right you're going to have a lot of problems afterwards. Nothing major just fine details that would lower my mark and make the final piece look a bit weird, However we overcame the problems and I think that next time I'll try to shoot the film with more accuracy.

This is the final edit of the piece:

So overall I liked the Preliminary task and am looking forward to the next bit of coursework. And I hope I managed to do the task successfully.
